Fitness trackers are nothing new, but their capabilities have expanded immensely since the very first model hit the market. What was once a basic gadget that tracked your step count, distance, and calories burned has turned into a smart device that tracks a variety of fitness activities, can play music, offer navigation help, and even connect to your phone. What's not so great about the technology upgrades? The price that often comes with it.
Back when the first Fitbit device hit the market, you could purchase it for about $99, but more current models like the Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker can go for as much as $160. Thankfully, when you want the benefits of a smart fitness tracker but don't love the pricey tag attached to it, the sales available during Amazon Prime Day give you the chance to score what you want at a major markdown.
The Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker is now on sale during Prime Day for 44% off. Originally $160, you can now get the wearable fitness tracker for just $90. Compared to prices at other retailers, this is better than or equal in price, meaning you're getting an incredible deal. Plus, if you are a Prime member, you don't have to worry about shipping — something other stores can't exactly beat! Save $70 and get the tracker as well as a 3-month Google Health Premium trial for free during this limited-time deal before it's too late.

Why choose the Fitbit Charge 6 Fitness Tracker
Fitbit is often synonymous with fitness trackers because they were at the forefront of the wearable device movement, and while other brands have released their versions onto the market, Fitbit has also fine-tuned their newer models to do far more than track your walk or run.
The Charge 6 offers more than 40 exercise tracking modes, meaning you can get information about your workout, like distance, steps, calories burned, and heart rate, whether you're swimming, cycling, strength training, running, walking, or doing some other form of exercise. There is a built-in GPS feature that most accurately measures distance and route.
Details
The tracker has 24/7 heart rate monitoring and ECG (electrocardiogram), which detects irregular heart rhythm, sleep tracking with a personalized sleep score, a stress management score, blood oxygen levels and skin temperature monitoring. There are also a handful of other features, like daily step and calories tracking. It also offers access to smart apps like Google Maps for navigation, Google Wallet for contactless payment, and YouTube Music, where you can remotely control music on your phone with pause, play, skip, and volume adjustment buttons.
You can even connect your iPhone or Android via Bluetooth and receive text and call notifications as well as sync your fitness activity to your phone for easy data access. In that case, you must have the Fitbit app downloaded and stay within 30 feet of your phone to sync data and receive real time notifications, but it's helpful since your phone screen is far easier to navigate and review your information compared to the smaller Fitbit screen. Unfortunately, you can't pair your headphones to the device, and can only use the Fitbit to adjust music from your wrist on your phone since that's where it plays.
This Fitbit measures 1.45 inches long, 0.91 inches wide, and 0.44 inches high, and comes with two bands, a small one for wrists measuring 5.1 inches to 6.7 inches long, and a large one, measuring 6.7 inches to 8.3 inches long. You can also buy different Fitbit bands by themselves to customize your own and find the right one that looks good on you. The screen has a digital display that changes with the slightest touch of a finger. It's bright and readable, even in the sun.

Is a Fitbit actually worth it?
They might seem like an unnecessary accessory, but Fitbits and similar fitness trackers are very much a worthwhile investment. They can be costly — about $100 to $200 on the lower end — but they are a great way to track your fitness and overall health, and many consider them helpful in creating daily routines when it comes to their wellness. Because Fitbits measure more than just your workout stats, they can be beneficial in helping you secure longer, better sleep each night. This is all thanks to the daily sleep score they give out, so you can see if you're being too stagnant when it comes to daily activity and see ways you can move a bit more. Fitbits also often provide the necessary encouragement to get out and do your daily bike ride or run because there's something addicting about seeing your post workout stats once you're done.
Your phone has similar capabilities these days, but wearable trackers like the Fitbit are more lightweight and discreet, and you don't have to worry about carrying them constantly since once you put it on your wrist in the morning, you're good to go. They offer excellent battery life and very accurate tracking, and often don't require expensive subscriptions in order to use them.
From a money-saving standpoint, they certainly can help you cut down on other costs. A monthly gym membership might make sense, especially if you're someone who likes to see the breakdown in numbers about your workout, but a fitness tracker does all that for you, and often more accurately than any elliptical or treadmill ever would. Plus, those monthly gym membership fees can add up, and by opting out and relying on your fitness tracker to give you the details, you can save quite a chunk of change over time.
